Extract 3D Roadmaplast revised: September 9, 2011 The initial Extract3D treats each GDSII layer as a series of 2D polygons that are extruded in Z. The diffusion layers all begin at Z=0 and extrude down and the rest of the layers (except for special contact) extrude upward. However this is a very limited set of behaviors and will not satisfy all of the end users who want to model their 2D layouts into 3D. This roadmap describes additional options and behaviors to be implemented. SpacerA spacer should be available to the user at any point above the Z axis. This merely shifts the stackup positions of all layers above the spacer by the thickness of the spacer. Emboss DownThe polygons in this layer are extruded downward into the layer below and "remove" material from the layer below. The thickness of the emboss down layer should be less than or equal to the thickness of the layer immediately below it. Emboss UpThe polygons in this layer are extruded upward into the next layer of the stackup and "remove" material from the layer above. The thickness of the emboss down layer should be less than or equal to the thickness of the layer immediately above it. |
