Description

GDS2CIF translates from Calma's GDSII stream format to Caltech Intermediate Format (CIF). The CIF format is used throughout the university community. GDSII is used throughout the commercial IC industry as a mask description format.

GDS2CIF is easy to use and includes several translation options that may be useful to mask designers. GDS2CIF also takes into account the differences between CIF and GDSII. For example, structure insertions may be rotated and scaled in GDSII but symbol calls may not in CIF; upon encountering a SREF with rotation or scaling, the program will explode the structure as needed.

Since not all CIF parsers support text, GDS2CIF can explodes GDSII TEXT into wires in CIF. GDS2CIF is an ideal tool for those that need their mask data in the CIF format.
