| ASM 550 is a bidirectional translator between Mentor's BoardStation and AutoCAD DXF. It uses the geom_asc, comp_asc and trace_asc files to translate to DXF and back. This is a low cost and simple way to exchange data between Boardstation and mechanical drawing packages. | PCB Designers can use it to move board and fab drawings to the mechanical department thus freeing themselves from the requirement to do detailed assembly drafting. They can also import DXF data from customers who have created complex board outlines or parts that would have to be manually re-entered. |
