Layer Details

The Details dialog is used to assign a material, thickness and electrical properties to a layer. For Wire layers, this dialog allows the user to define diameter, wire profile models and parameters.

This information is not used by NETEX-G directly to build nets but is passed out to formats that support it -- especially Ansoft's ANF format, Artwork's 3Di format and the ACIS .sat 3D file.



Metal/Dielectric Layer Details

Each metal or dielectric layer can be assigned the following properties from this dialog:

    Thickness - the Z height of the layer.

    Material - a name; this name is not passed to the output but is used to save color, conductivity, permittivity, and permeability. This saves the user the need to repeat that information over and over for layers of the same material.

    Conductivity, Permittivity, Permeability - these values are only useful when creating output that supports them. Currently the only output where these are passed to is Ansoft's ANF.

    Color - click on the button to open a color dialog that allows he user to set each layer's color and alpha transparency. Transparency is only supported for 3Di and ACIS output.



Wire Layer Details

Netex-G now supports a way to create 3D wire models when creating output to 3Di and to ACIS. In order to get 3D wires from 2D data, the user must assign each layer of wires to a wire model, must provide parameters for that model and should supply information about the die body if such info is available.

The dialog enables the user to fully define the following parameters:

    Connect to Next Metal - if checked, the package end of the wire connects to the first metal layer found directly below the wire endpoint. If not checked, the user must specify the layer that the wire connects to. Default is to leave this checked.

    Wire Diameter - the diameter of the bond wire. Note that wirebond layers do not have a thickness.

Wire Models

For generating the wire's Z profile, NETEX-G supports two models: a JEDEC 3 point model and a JEDEC 4 point model. (for model details of how the models look and what the parameters mean see the page: Jedec Wire Models


Die Information

There is no way to import the die body from Gerber data; instead the user should define the following parmeters:

    The die thickness

    The layer (stackup) that the die sits on.

Based on these two parameters, the wire Z values on the die side are calculated. In case (a) the die sits on stackup position 3. In case (b) the die sits on stackup position 5.

Die Corners

For 3D output formats such as 3Di and ACIS, most users would like to render a die body. To do so, enter the lower left and upper right coordinates. Using this information along with the die height a body will be rendered to represent the die.
