ld.so.1 Error in QCKVU under Solaris 2.7

On Solaris 2.7 you may experience the following error when starting up qckvu.

$./qckvu

ld.so.1: qckvu: fatal: relocation error:
file qckvu: symbol __1cDstdJbad_allocG__vtbl_: referenced symbol not found
Killed

Solution

This problem can be solved by installing a patch to Solaris 7. The patch number is 106327 and 106950. It is a C++ shared library patch.
You can download the patches from the Sun web site.

WEB: http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/show.pl?target=patchpage

Look for the two patches 106950 and 106327. Download them and install them on your system.
Here is what you need to do to install the patches. You will need super user permission to do that. The file name may be slightly different because of a newer revision that may be supplied by Sun.
  • Download the two zip files below.
  • unzip each zip file in a clean temporary directory - unzip utilities for Solaris are also available.
  • First install 106950 patch by running the following command as a super user
    #patchadd 106950-24

  • Next install 106950 patch by running the following command as a super user
    #patchadd 106327-23

When you are done installing the two patches, try qckvu again.

  • Unzipping on UNIX

The release is zipped using a shareware version of unzip that supports passwords. If your version of unzip does not support passwords please download the one available below:

    zip_solaris.tar
    [389 kbytes]

untar it into your /usr/local/bin or somewhere in your PATH. Once installed in your PATH you can simply use it by typing:unzip filename. This program is compatible with PKZIP compression used on PCs.
