Installation Notes for NETEX-ODB/ADS Importer
Stand AloneNETEX-ADS is now stand alone - it produces an ADFI file that can be imported into ADS (using a design kit similar to the allegro import dk).
This means that you need not have ADS installed on the same machine as NETEX-ADS or even if ADS is installed, there is no direct interaction.
there are two types of licenses - floating and node locked.
If you have a floating license, somewhere on your network a system administrator has already installed Artwork's floating license manager (Flexlm) along with the license keys and set a port for it to listen on.
acs.key will contain:
!#ACS FLXLMGR FLXLMGR FLXLMGR FLXLMGR FLXLMGR FLXLMGR FLXLMGR
Environment VariableThe environment variable Artwork_License_File must be set to the port and hostname of the flexlm license server e.g. 1820@bladeserve
the file flexlm.lic is not used.
acs.key will contain:
!#ACS FLXNODE FLXNODE FLXNODE FLXNODE FLXNODE FLXNODE FLXNODE
Environment VariableThe environment variable is not used
the file flexlm.lic will contain license strings locked to either the machine's hostid or its disk serial number. An example is shown below:
# NETEXG/GDS or GDS_ASCII FEATURE ACS2836 artwork 1.0 31-dec-2049 uncounted HOSTID=0026b9d61130 \ SIGN="0044 3C71 05E3 C11F 9E19 5EBF 8103 1600 101D CBE9 4C97 \ 0964 8980 F128 0E86" # ODB NETEX IMPORT FEATURE ACS5I8 artwork 1.0 31-dec-2049 uncounted HOSTID=0026b9d61130 \ SIGN="00F7 BE49 949C 3CE0 6C2A 416F 37D9 2300 1112 7885 3782 \ 4306 D7DA 0F2A 1E5A" # NETEXG/ADFI FEATURE ACS284O artwork 1.0 31-dec-2049 uncounted HOSTID=0026b9d61130 \ SIGN="00CD 3605 A8CC 8995 F68C 9EE5 7D66 FA00 DA1F 88EE C4C9 \ 11E9 4F28 5D13 1E07" # GBRVU FEATURE ACS5II artwork 1.0 31-dec-2049 uncounted HOSTID=0026b9d61130 \ SIGN="00DB A4C3 66E7 D283 DDD4 8B1F 02A0 B500 A3D7 9E4E 0538 \ C8B3 EDA7 C494 09F1"
Installing the Design Kit into ADS
The latest version of the ODB++ interface produces an ADFI file from NETEX-ADS which is read into ADS using a design kit. This is a variant of the Allegro design kit used for the Allegro interface. Download the zipped design kit and then install it into ADS as you would any other design kit.
Once you have produced an ADFI file, create a new project in ADS and start the import module from the layout window:
Click on the menu item "Import Allegro layout ..."
Note that the default file extension is .ads so you need to manually enter *.adfi in the File Name: field or you won't find the file. Once you have made that change browse to the location of the adfi file and select it.
It may take ADS a while to import the ADFI file (depending on the size) but once complete you will have the layout data, ports, components and a substrate file all automatically generated.
