Running GBRUnion
To import a Gerber file into ADS first load it into Artwork’s GBRVU. Then use the Tools pulldown to select Gerber Union. The Gerber Union Dialog will open.
GBRUnion Dialog Options
Sometimes the boolean produces tiny slivers of metal. Use this option to find and remove any that are 1/2 mil or smaller.
Single Layer Output
Select single layer. Re-entrant polygons (with cut lines) will be generated.
Output File Name
Select the output directory and filename in this section.
Smoothing removes closely spaced vertices that are produced during the boolean process.
Data Window
If you want to select just a part of the data enter the clipping coordinates in this section.
Output Type
Select EGS as the output file type or one of the other options for different formats.
